QUESTIONS IN COMMONS (British Official Wireless.) (Received June 23, 10.50 a.m.) RUGBY, June 22. Mr. Arthur Henderson (Labour) asked the Prime Minister in the House of Commons what representations had been received from Italy that the 'coming into effect of the Rome agreement be expedited. Mr. Chamberlain replied: "In the course of an exchange of views which from time to time has taken place between the two Governments Italy has made plain its desire, in which Britain fully participates, that the agreement should be brought into force at the" earliest possible moment consistent with the fulfilment of the prerequisite conditions." Mr. Henderson asked: "In view of the fact that Italy has suspended the negotiations with France, will the Prime Minister give an assurance that Italy will not .be permitted to drive a wedge between this country and France?"
Mr. Chamberlain: "I have no reason to suppose that Italy would wish to drive a wedge between us and the French."
