CLAN MACKAY.
The monthly gathering of the Clan Mackay, held on Saturday in the Rechabite Chambers, Willis Street, was an outstanding success. In the absence of the president (Dr. N. R. Mackay), Mrs. G. R. Mackay occupied the chair. The gathering included some members from New Plymouth. Mrs. Mackay said that the clan at present consisted largely, of Mackays and could be greatly enlarged if the septs, Mackie, Magee, McGhie, Mackee, Paul, Poison, Neilson, Morgan, Williamson, and Bain, were aware of their relationship to the clan. Highland and lowland songs were sung by Mr. Norman Grenfell and Miss Marjorie Clifford contributed Jacobite and English songs. A vocal solo and a humorous monologue were rendered by Mr. Lan Mackay. Miss Joan Mackay performed clever tap dances and Miss Joan Sargent delighted the audience with a dainty skipping dance. Irish folk dances by Miss Meta McKenna were well received and she was congratulated on recent dancing successes. Bagpipe selections were played by two of the society's pipers,, Miss' Gracie Mackay and Sergeant John Mackie. Piano-accordion numbers were given by Mr. S. Clarke and Mr. R. L. Saunders entertained with various conjuring items. The pianoforte accompaniments were played by Miss Margaret Oates, Mrs. Lan Mackay, and | Mrs. John Mackay, and the two pipers supplied some of the dance music. Mr lan Mackay was M.C.
