PRINCE OF WALES CUP

! In one of the finest matches seen in Wairoa for some years, Tairawhiti beat Tau Hauauru on Saturday by 14 points to 9 and thus retained the Prince of Wales Cup, the premier Maori Rugby trophy.' This is the fourth successive occasion on which Tairawhiti has been successful.
The game was played at a fast pace throughout, being a magnificent forward struggle, with patches of good back play. At half-time Tai Hauauru was leading by 9 points to nil as the result of three penalty kicks, but in the second half Tairawhiti did most of the attacking, running up 14 points. J. Broughton (Taranaki) kicked . three penalties for Tai Hauauru. P. Kutia (Poverty Bay) scored two tries for Tairawhiti and Tuhoro (East Coast) one. S. Jackson (Ha>vke's Bay) kicked one penalty and converted one try. ' There was a large crowd present.
