GOLD VAALS SCORES

HUNTING BLOOD'S SPRINT

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) TAURANGA, June 18. The Bay of Plenty Racing Club's Winter Meeting was held today in glorious weather, and before a particularly large attendance. The track was in fairly good order. The chief event, the Opotiki Handicap, was won in impressive style by Gold Vaals, who appreciated the easier class than that ruling at Ellerslie recently. The promising Hunting Blood led all the way in/the Farewell Handicap, and just hung on long enough to shade Llangollen, who was having her first race for some time. Backers generally did not experience a good day as only two favourites were successful. The totalisator handled the sum of £19,860 10s, as against £17,510 last year, an increase of £2350 10s.
