PORT NICHOLSON CLUB

First place and fastest th.ie honours were won by J. Wilson in the 33 miles senior race held at Island Bay by 1 the Port Nicholson Club. There were 14 starters. The Sowerby brothers found the pace too hot, as did K. Wilson (smin) and A. R. Stevens (3min). The two limit men, M. Williamson and R. Gestro, rode a good race, only to be caught a mile from home. These two should be heard of as the season progresses. At the end of the second lap Amey dropped Disley and made up a considerable amount of the leeway, but found the combination of J. Wilson and W. Keighley too good. At this stage it looked as if Amey might get the ,time honours, but on the adjustment at the finish he was nine seconds out, the long solo ride being too much. Results were:— J.-Wilson (2min), 85min 20sec, 1; E. Robinson (Bmin), 91min 20 4-ssec, 2; W. Keighley (2min), 85min 20 4-ssec, 3. Fastest times: J. Wilson, 1; W. Keighley, 2; G. Amey, 3. The club also held 'a face for juniors. In this the scratch men, Wagstaff and McEwen, had machine trouble. Others withdrew and only four remained for the finishing sprint. S. Webber was first, with two new riders, J. Croskery and A. Taylor, second and third, respectively. Webber also made fastest time and Taylor second fastest. Results:— S. Webber (3min), 68min 10 4-ssec, 1; J. Croskery (6min), 71min 11 2-5 sec, 2; A. Taylor (3min), 68min 12sec, 3.
