NEW TIME-TRIAL EVENT
HELD BY PONEKE CLUB
The Poneke Road Cycling Club held a new type of time trial on Saturday afternoon, a two-man event, which started and finished at Kaiwarra. The distance was 20 miles and there were 13 teams. R. Dutton and D. Bowsie were the winning pair.
The handicapper grouped a scratch and limit rider together, then a shortand a long-handicap man. This left the middle-markers paired off, and it was generally thought they would have an advantage, but the winners, Dutton and Bowsie, are a scratch and limit rider respectively. Dutton did most of the pacing, giving his team-mate every assistance. Bowsie's ride was his best this year. Results:— R. Dutton and D. Bowsie, 54min 29sec, 1; D. Evans and G. Howard, 55min 22sec, 2; F. Huxford and W. Goey, 55min 24 2-ssec, 3; F. Blackett and N. Blair, 56min 21sec,'4. Club riders will be racing at Petone in the Petone Club's open fixture next Saturday. Entries will close at West's cycle shop on Wednesday.
