YACHTING
LADIES' RACE AND GEORGE
A heavy programme this weekend will keep the yachtsmen of the Evans Bay Yacht and Motor-boat Club busy.
Tomorrow afternoon the keel yachts will compete for the Smith Memorial Cup, the race starting from the.clubhouse at 2.45 p.m. '
Sunday morning at 10.30 will see the lady skippers at the tillers of the centre-boarders, and an even larger field than the previous race is expected. Some of the feminine skippers put up quite a good showing in the last race, and it will be interesting to see if they can hold their position, in the race on Sunday morning.
In the afternoon the whole of the centre-boarder fleet will resail for the George Cup, which was called off because of the capsize of the Conquest. The Vampire is unable to start, as she fouled a buoy in the original race before the Conquest capsized. The course will most likely be the same as the last race was sailed over, and the public should witness some very interesting racing.
