BEEF SUPPLIES
(To the Editor,)
Sir.^l read in a recent issue of "The. Post" that the international beef conference's revision of the import figures resulted in an agreement on the importations fop the second, quarter of 1938 (April to June), New Zealand is expected to export J33,Qoocwt of chilled beef, also 180,000cwt of frozen beef, which means 53,760 carcasses of 6501b each. I fail to sees where this amount is to be found; in fact, beef is already at a very high' price at all markets. Butchers had a very hard time in New Zealand last winter, and if this amount is to be sent they will have a far harder time this coming winter. Old cow boner beef, was largely sold in every city and town last winter and citizens might- well turn vegetarian before trying to spoil their teeth and. digestion on'meat of this quality.—l am, etc., D.. MORGAN.
