COMING TALKS
There is a great deal of interest in housing just now, so that the talk on housing in England and New Zealand by Mr. J. W. Brimblecombe at 2YA next Monday evening should appeal to a wide public. Mr. Brimblecombe is on the staff of t^ie State Housing Department, and before that had experience of municipal housing in England.
"The Women of- the West" is the title chosen by Mrs. John Flynn for her talk at 3YA next Monday evening. Mrs. Flynn is the wife of- the Rev. John .Flynn, familiarly' known as "Flynn of the Inland," and will consequently speak with most exceptional personal knowledge of the conditions in'the Australian out-back. The quotation is taken from George Essex Evans's well-known poem written as a tribute to the wives of the men of the bush. . .
Next week's talk in the Whirligig of Time" series at 2YA on Monday evening next is to be' on the Whig triumph in England in 1688. This is in a series on revolutions, and this particular talk will lead up to the French Revolution and the revolutions of 1848. Next week's speaker is Professor F. W. Wood, who recently returned from a visit to England and Europe. The talk in the same series at 4YA on Tuesday, March 29, will be "Florence Nightingale and the 19th Century Woman" by Mrs. F. R. Thompson, at 3YA on Wednesday, March 30, "Byrd, Gibbons, and other Tudor Musicians" by Mr. Ernest Jenner, and at IYA on Thursday, the 31st, "Women in the 19th Century" by Mr. G. Ardern.
One of the English representatives at the recent Roman Catholic Centenary Celebrations was the Very Rev. Owen Dudley ..Superior to the Catholic Missionary Society, London. Father Dudley is making a tour of New Zealand before returning to England and is to speak at 2YA on Tuesday evening next on "The Ordeal of this Generation."
There will be a novelty talk-drama item at 2YA oh the eve of April Fool's Day. Certain aspects of the April Fool's Day folly will be briefly dramatised, such as the sending of bogus messages, and there will be a historical review of the originl of the custom. . ■ ■. . . :,
