BRAILLE CLUB
TRANSCRIPTION WORK
The annual meeting of the Wellington Braille Club was held recently at the Red Cross rooms, Dixon Street. Mrs. Gordon, acting president, was in the chair. She welcomed seven new transcribing members, who received certificates last year, and a letter from the president, Mrs. Israel, was read, extending greetings to the club.
The election of office-bearers, resulted in the present office-bearers being reelected. The date of the annual bridge party was fixed for May 18. A review of the transcription work for the Brailled Post, Rangers' "Budget" was presented by Miss Re Van Staveren; and arrangements were made to facilitate this work which is a big and important branch of the club's
The names of Braille magazines were discussed, a generous donation having been given towards a year's subscription to a Braille magazine. It was decided to subscribe to the "Horae Jocundae." Members submitted titles of books with a view to transcribing these in the future. It was stated that anyone interested to learn Braille would be welcomed at the Monday afternoon classes at the. Red Cross rooms, Dixon Street. * ■•>
Votes of thanks were passed to the binders and to Mr. C. J. Bell, the honorary auditor.
