APPOINTMENT OF ASSESSOR.

In connection with the appointment of a borough assessor at Petone a meeting of ratepayers will be held in the Council . Chambers, Jackson Street, Petone, next Thursday evening, at 730 for the purpose of electing a borough assessor. Every ratepayer present at the meeting, whose name appears on the local authorities' valuation roll, is entitled to have one vote, and no ratepayer is allowed to have more than one vote. This procedure is different from an ordinary election or poll of ratepayers where both husband and wife are entitled to vote: As soon as all the ratepayers who desire •to vote have recorded, their votes at the meeting, the chairman declares the voting closed ,and: after: counting the votes declares the -result of the election.
