MARTARA'S RELATIVES
, Mr. C. W. Boyd, who ,had such a run of success last season with Martara and who has also enjoyed a share, of this season's ■ spoils .with Surmount, evidently has a soft spot. for/Martara's sire and family. Baldric, who opens his racing dare'er tomorrow in the Martara jacket, is a close relative to Martara whom Mr. Boyd. bought privately some time ago from his breeder, Mr. J. Porter, of Akaroal Baldric is a six-year-old bay gelding by Martarma . from the Gay LadFlower of the West-mare Life, who is half-sister to Martara's dam, the Paladin mare Taraheke. The blood relationship Is .therefore three parts, though in raping parlance Baldric and Martara are only'quarter relatives.
