PALMERSTON N., This Day. The going was springy at Awapuni yesterday morning and the course proper exceptionally fast, although the flags were eight feet further out than they were the.previous morning. Eehearsal and Minga sprinted halt a mile in 52sec, both moving very smoothly. . . , Icing and Clessamor, were associated in a flutter over six furlongs. - They averaged thirteen seconds for the first three furlongs, and both finished strongly to complete the full distance in lmin 17 4-ssec. Icing's effort was particularly good. Scarf Dance, alone, ran five furlongs in lmin 15 l-ssec, going evenly throughout. Keen interest was taken in the gallop of Stretto and Royal Chief over seven furlongs. After running the first furlong in 14 l-ssec, they were hitting out freely. Stretto,. going easily, was a long head in front at the post after running the full distance in lmin 31sec. It was a very fine gallop. Dunmanway, after taking 14sec for the first furlong, left three furlongs behind in 39sec. He. went well. Noisy Night and Baldric ran- six furlongs in lmin 21 l-ssec, the last half-mile in 55 l-ssec. ' " . „ , Another, interesting gallop was that of Wildflower and Jack Tar over seven furlongs. They ran the first, halfmile in 53 l-ssec and completed in lmin 33 4-ssec without being under pressure, although Jack Tar was in front at the post; Fair Day and Tangled jumped three schooling fences in fine, style, and Entheos was given similar work, jumping brilliantly. ■<

Silent Acre jumped three fences, as did Porotiti, who went round -very carefully. Aurora's Love gave another faultless" exhibition of fast jumpm After the , breakfast Interval Old Surrey and the two-year-old Brazil were associated in a half-mile sprint. Brazil showed the way to the straight, where Old Surrey drew level, and they finished on terms in 52 l-ssec, the time being better than 'it ■ looked because of a standing start. Ned Cuttle and Majority were let off with a pipe-opener over five furlongs and they were together all the way. After running the first three furlbngs in 38 4-ssec they went on to complete in lmin ssec. Lady Ina sprinted half a mile in 51 3-ssec, and her effortless galloping indicated that her Trentham races have not done her the slightest harm.
