| :■: '' ■•.' ■!; ■'" •■'.> ai Convjcted of obtaining credit by, fraud, John Godfrey McArthur, a labourer, aged 43, who appeared before Mr. W. F. StilweLl, S.M., in the Magistrate's-^Court-today, was sentenced to three months! imprisonment.
Detective-Sergeant P. Doyle, prosecuting, stated that the accused . had called at a warehouse at Auckland, represented himself as a member of the staff of the.Devonport Naval Base, and had ordered 10 dozen bottles of beer, 2 bottles of cocktail, and 2 of port wine, stating that it was for an exnavalt men's gathering. He left Auckland, and was later located at Welling^ ton, where he made a frank statement to detectives. , The accused had a number of convictions for similar, types of offence. .
