"A FALSE GOD"
MAKING RUGBY ATTRACTIVE
"There can be no argument at all that Rugby in New Zealand has discarded the fundamental; principles of the game,'" said Major J. T. King last', evening, at the annual: meeting' of the Hutt Rugby Football Club, when commenting on , the lessons of the Springbbk tour, "I entirely agree," 'he said, "that the amended rules tp make Rugby more attractive to the spectators have,spoiled the game, and have probably failed in their purpose. The Springboks and also the British team demonstrated that they could attract spectators. We have been, worshipping a false ;gbd. The class of-football we thought attractive has not stood the test, and the sootier it is discarded the better. We' want to get back to the heavy solid. forward who did'his job, and it is up to us in New Zealand to get back 'to the game we used to play." ■ ;
- The club decided unanimously td adopt the international rules.
