AUCKLAND PRICES

Exporters and tanners both operated very freely at ;the .fortnightly hide and skin sale held by Auckland brokers this week. Bidding was, brisk and values were slightly better for many grades. Rates for tallow, however, were approximately £1 a ton lower than thos.e ruling last week.

Prices for best'grades were:— Hides.—-Ox (abattoirs), heavy, 7id per Ib, medium 6{& to 63d.. light 54d; ox (country butchers), heavy 6{d to 6.?d, medium 5Sd to 6d, light s|d to 5Jd; cow (country butchers), heavy 5d to sid; cow (abattoirs), heavy, 5 3-Bd, light to medium', 5 3-8d to sjd; farmers (all weights), 33d to 4£d; yearlings, (abattoirs), heavy 6d to 6}d, light to medium 7£d to 7j(d, second grade 4id to 5Jd, faulty and cut 4d to 4:,'d; calfskins, 31b to 51b 7Jd to BJd, 61b to 81b Bid to 83d, seconds and cut s£d to 6|d, slippy 4d to sd. Salted Sheepskins.—Half-wools, large 2s'7d to 2s lOd, medium' 2s Id to 2s 4d; quarter to half-wools, Is 9d to 2s, faulty, Is 2d to Is. 6d, bare to quar-ter-wools, ls.4d to lsV7d. .
