The Minister of Public Works (ths Hon. H. Semple) will leave Wellington tomorrow for Napier.- -He will at* tend a dinner and reception tomorrow evening to Sir Stenson- ,Cooke, and on Saturday will inspect flood damage and discuss river protection work in the Hawke's" Bay district". In the afternoon Mr. Semple will lay the foundation-stone of the- new Government buildings at Napier, and in the evening he will give a public'address. ,He is to return to .Wellington on "Sunday
Dr. Elizabeth Gunn, Director of School Hygiene, who has been pay* ing an official visit to Hawke's Bay, has returned to Wellington. '■
A motion of sympathy with relative* of the late Mr. L. T, Cobcrplt, a vicepresident of the club, was'.passed at the annual meeting of the Petona Rugby Football Club last evening. The president (Mr. J. R. -Robertson) said that the late Mr. Cobcroft was a keen supporter of the club and a discerning critic of the form of players.'
Mr. R. H. Nimmo is to leave Wellington on April 1 on a business trip to the United States and Europe. Aa a member of the directorate of the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition Company, and chairman of the amuse, ments committee, Mr. Nimnio will note the work done at San. Francisco and New York in preparation for the great exhibitions to be held .there next year. In Britain he will meet trie-- general manager of the company, Mr. C. P. Hainsworth, and they will negotiate fos the appearance at -the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition of.amus£(|nenfc devices seen at the Glasgow \ Exhibition and elsewhere. Mr. Nimmo will represent the Associated. Chambers ot Commerce of New Zealand^ the Weilington Chamber .of Commerce, ths. Y.M.C.A., and the Wellington Burns Club. He has hopes of attending a conference of the Federation; of Burns Clubs in Scotland. , i , .
