AUCKLANDER SENTENCED IN

GEELONG

MELBOURNE, February 11. When David Scroggie, aged 47, Of Auckland, was sentenced in the Geelong Court today for false pretences, the Magistrate asked the police to see whether there were any means by which the man could be sent back to New Zealand, adding that otherwise Victorians would be paying to keep in gaol a man who had only been out of, a New Zealand, gaol a month. Scroggie admitted 23 convictions in New for false pretences. Evidence was given that he represented himself as an agent for an advertising firm and collected £1 4s each from two Ge.elong firms.

Scroggie said he was known «^ "Xlie .Wizard from-the. North."
