MILK CONSUMPTION

INCREASE IN AUCKLAND

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) \

AUCKLAND, February 11.

Aucklanders consumed more than 1,000,000 gallons more milk last year than in 1936, according to a report submitted at the annual meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council today. In the council's area a total of 7,833,700 gallons was sold, including cream, reduced milk, and equivalents.

The increase is due in part to the distribution of milk to schools throughout the year and partly to increased business done by milk bars.

"It is evident that the public is realising more fully the nutritive valua of milk," commented the chairman, Mr. I. J. Goldstone, who was re-elected.
