PROBATION FOR FORGERY

' In the Supreme Court today.Mr. Justice Kennedy " admitted Kenneth Johnston Russell to two years' probation on two charges of forgery to which Russell pleaded guilty in -the Magistrate's Court. Special conditions were that Russell should make restitution of £15, the amount which had been obtained as the result of the forgeries, and pay the costs of the prosecution. , . Counsel said the accused was 20 years of age and had been unfortunate k» experiencing a period in which it was difficult for young men to find, work. He had never been in trouble before. His Honour said he was persuaded mainly by the prisoner's age to release him on probation instead of sentencing him to a term of imprisonmentl
