NEXT MEETING

ITEMS ON AGENDA PAPER

The next conference of the International Labour Office will be held at Geneva on June 2, and nominations of persons to represent the employers and workers of New Zealand respectively are now being called by the Department of Labour. The nominations will close with the Department at noon on Monday, February 14. In addition, the New Zealand delegation will include a representative of -the Government.

Items on the agenda paper of the conference include the following:— (1) Technical and vocational education and apprenticeship. (2) Regulation of contracts of employment of indigenous workers. (3) Recruiting, placing, and conditions of labour (equality of treatment) of migrant workers.

(4) Regulation of hours of work and rest periods of professional drivers' (and their assistants) of vehicles engaged in road transport. (5) Generalisation of the reduction of hours of work.
