1937-38 WHEAT CROP.

As the result of an adjustment in respect of Tasmania, the final estimate of the area sown to wheat for grain in Australia for the 1937-38 season is now given as 13,748,000 i.eres, a decrease of 5000 acres on the previous forecast. The estimated total yield for the Commonwealth is 161,781,000 bushels. An international review of the wheat situation discloses that, as a result of the increased area under wheat rather than a favourable season in 1937-38, the world wheat crop is expected to exceed that of 1936-37.
