"MAKING" OCCUPATIONS

"Wanted: Positions of trust for women of middle or over middle age." This appeal has been issued by the Over Thirty Association, which has been formed to find occupations for women who, though past their youth, still need to earn a livelihood, .states a London correspondent in the "Christian Science Monitor." The "making" of occupations is regarded as of special importance by the association, since it is felt that, by the invention of completely new avenues, middle-aged women may be unhampered by the suggestion that the work should have been done by younger people. But such "making" must, the association declares, be undertaken not only by themselves, but by the public. To make such a thing possible, the association has opened a special employment department under an expert organiser whose task will be to bring together ideas and suggestions and to see how best to put them into practical use.
