PERSONAL NOTES

The Hon. Mary Monckton, the Hon. Isobel Monckton, and the Hon. Simon Monckton-Arundell, children of their Excellencies Lord and Lady Galway, arrived in Christchurch from Wellington on Friday and left later for the south. Dr. and Mrs. L. G. Austin have returned to Wellington after a tour of the North Island. Sir Thomas and Lady Wilford, who are leaving for England next Saturday by the Mataroa in order to see their son and daughter and their grandchildren, leave for Wanganui tomorrow to say good-bye to Sir Thomas's mother, who is living there. Mrs. Derrick Gould, Christchurch, who visited Wellington for the races, returned home on Sunday. Lady Owen, Sydney, is spending a few days with Mrs. J. A. Cook, Dunedin, before coming to Wellington. Mrs. Bernard Wood, Christchurch, who visited Wellington for the Web- j ster—Levien wedding, will return south j this week, and will later set out for a j caravan tour of North Canterbury and Marlborough. Miss Eleanor Hunt, Hataitai, will leave for Christchurch tonight to take up an appointment as head of the advertising department of the New Zealand Farmers' Co-operative Association, Limited. Miss Denise Champtaloup, Dunedm, who arrived in Wellington' during the week, is the guest of Mrs. Patrick Marshall, Lower Hutt. Mr. and Mrs. L. Russell Palmer, Oriental Bay, who are visiting MVs Palmer's mother, Mrs. F. Clark, Christchurch, will leave for Wellington'tomorrow. Miss Amabel Horton, Wellington, arrived in Christchurch on Saturday for a visit of several weeks. Mrs. Hugh Ansell, Remuera, is spending a short holiday in Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. George Dryden, Invercargill, will leave' Wellington tonight for Auckland. A prominent passenger on the Monterey, which arrived in Auckland on Friday morning, was Chennajammanni Urs, the Princess of Mysore, who, with her husband, Mr. Delavoy Madan Raj, is completing a world tour. The Princess passed through Auckland on her way to Australia. She was in England at the time of the Coronation, and since has visited many parts of Europe and America. Miss Joyce A. Mawhiney, Takapuna, has left for a. holiday at Palmerston North and Wellington. Mrs. J. S. Vinsen, who has been making a motor tour ■of the North Island, has returned to Wellington. ; . Mrs. A. Rose, Wellington, who has been making a brief visit to Auckland, returned by the Limited express on Saturday. Mrs. T. Haddow, Patea, is spending a holiday in Wellington. Miss Mildred Griffin, who has been visiting New Plymouth, will spend a holiday in Napier before returning to Wellington. Mrs. J. Gibson is a Wellington visitor to Auckland. Mrs. R. Vincent, Blenheim, is visiting her mother, Mrs. J. Sinclair, Opunake. Miss Joyce Edgar Jones, Geraldine, and Miss Sheen Guiness, Ealing, are the guests of Mrs. Malcolm Miller, Wellington. Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Brown are Wellington visitors to Timaru. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sherwood and Miss Barbara Sherwood, Northland, are among the guests at the Chateau Tongariro. Mr. and Mrs. L. H.
