MR. F. BLANSHARD
The death occurred at Te Aroha recently of Mr. F. Blanshard, a, veteran of the Egyptian and Sudan campaigns. Jrle lived at Wellington forty years ago. Mr; Blanshard was the' possessor of the Kliedive Star^ the Queen's Medal with Suakin baiv and the Citizens of Sydney Medal, which was presented to all members ol the Australian Con-j tingent." '■ ' , ' . Although English by birth, he went to Australia', when be was still very young, and when the Egyptian trouble broke "out he jollied the First New South Wales Contingent. When the .troops were demobilised at Sydney he. came to New Zealand and followed his occupation of carpentering at Welling* ton for five years. He was later, with the New Zealand Railways in1 the Wanganui and Thames districts. Some years ago he took up farming. Mr, Blanshard retired' twelve years ; ago, and went to. live at Te Aroha. Mr. Blanshard is survived by his \vidow, two sons, and a daughter.
