SUNDAY AIR SERVICE

WELLINGTON-AUCKLAND

1 As from this' weekend the Sunday ! air service be.tween Auckland and Wellington will be limited to one departure from each terminal instead of the two which have been flown by Union Airways ■'■ of New Zealand * Limited. The double trip on week days will be continued. Connections with machines to and from the South Island will be maintained at Palmerston North as at present, and on both upward and downward journey calls will be made at New Plymouth.

The new Sunday time-table provides for a departure from Auckland at 8.15 a.m., the aeroplane arriving at Wellington at 11.15 a.m. The aeroplane from Wellington will leave at noon and arrive at Auckland at 3 p.m., half an hour later than on the week day trip, which iwill be accounted for by the stop at New Plymouth.

Recently Union Airways applied to the Commissioner of Transport, Mr. G. L. Laurensop, for the elimination of the noon service from Auckland and the 3 p.m. service from Wellington on Sundays. The reason given was that it had been, found there was not sufficient traffic on the route to warrant double trips on Sundays. ,

WANCANUI BRANCH

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

WANGANUI. January 21,

Wanganui was on January 10 granted a trial "feeder" air service to Palmerstori North, with the promise that should support, be sufficiently strong, the service would be permanent. It was quickly realised, however, that the time-table arranged, which did not connect with the South Island service, was not very satisfactory, and now, subject to the approval of the Minister of Transport (the Hon. R. Semple), the service between Palmerston North and Wanganui will operate on a new schedule at the end of the month. Mr: Clarke, manager of Union Airways, visited Wanganui during the week to arrange for the alterations. He expressed himself as satisfied with the patronage so far. ■ ■ ,
