BUT CLOUD INCREASING

Special forecast for Wellington:— Light to moderate but freshening northerly winds. Weather fine and warm to hot, with cloud increasing: tomorrow.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing' twenty-four hours, is for light to moderate and variable winds. Northerlies, however, will soon be prevailing and will later be freshening about and to the south of Cook Strait. The weather at first will be fine generally, but it will be becoming cloudy to overcast in the western and southern districts of the South Island and rain will gradually develop there. Temperatures will be warm to hot.*

Under the influence of an anticyclone, centred this morning over the North Island, the weather has been fine and warm generally, although low cloud and fog were reported early this morning in western and far southern coastal areas in the South Island. Winds have continued to be light to moderate and rather variable, but northerlies were predominating this morning in the South Island.

Auckland's weather yesterday was fair to fine and warm, with a moderate southerly wind. The maximum temperature was 80.1deg and the minimum 59.8deg. At 9 a.m. today it was fine and clear, the wind being a fresh one from the south-east.

Wellington had a warm, cloudy, and hazy day, with light north-westerly breezes. Hours of bright sunshine totalled 5.8, and the maximum and minimum temperatures were 75.1 and 54.3 degrees respectively.

In Christchurch it was fine, warm, and hazy, with a north-easterly breeze. The maximum temperature was 73.2 deg and the mimimum 56.4deg.

Dunedin's weather has been fair to cloudy with but little wind.
