Auckland, January 16.

When he dived off the Taupo wharf while swimming with two other men, Leonard Clark, aged 34, of Remuera, was stunned by the impact with the water and drowned. Clark was spending a holiday with two friends. The three men decided to dive in together from the wharf, but Clark hesitated. He then made a bad dive, striking the water heavily. He rose to the surface once, sinking again almost immediately. He was.dead when the body •was .recovered.
