COINS FOR ABYSSINIA

SUPPLY FROM ITALY

VALUE OF £17,000,000

(Received January 12, 12.55 p.m.)

LONDON, January 11

The correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" at Rome reports that an official decree provides for the supplying of Abyssinia with £15,000,000 worth, of silver coinage and £2,000,000 worth of bronze coinage. It is believed that the coinage will raise Italy's prestige in Africa, obviating the Abyssinians' mistrust of the paper currency.
