In reply, the chairman pleaded for a deepening and quickening of the spiritual life of the Methodist Church in his own circuit, particularly in this bi-centenary year of Methodism, which the Church throughout the world was giving thanks for the life of John Wesley, who did so much for the Church in England in the eighteenth century and founded the Methodist Church, which today extended to every corner of the world.
