ANNUAL BREAKING-UP

(From "The Post's" Representative.) NELSON, December 16. Both the Boys' and the Girls'- Colleges broke up today, and at the joint I ceremony held in the Majestic Theatre, Dr.'E. Marsden presented the prizes. On Saturday at the Boys' College, the annual gymnastic display was held, and it was thought that the standard, which is always high,-was even better this year. A great many parents were present, and the prizes were presented by Mrs. C. H. Broad. The Festive Season. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Tennant invited many friends of Mr. and Mrs. M. Airey to a "five o'clock" party at their home at Tahuna. Fortunately the afternoon had cleared and the guests were able to enjoy the superb view from the garden of the bay and ranges. The guests included Mr.' and Mrs. Airey, Mrs. Legge, Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Robison, Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Broad, Mr. P. B. Adams, and Misses Stewart, Turton, and Hayes.

Dr. and Mrs. D. C. Low gave two I "five o'clock" parties recently, when j many friends enjoyed the shade of I their attractive garden. The rooms were charmingly decorated, and the garden, viewed from the large open windows, presented a very animated scene. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Squires, Dr. and Mrs. J. Jamieson, Mr. and Mrs. Orchard, Mr. and Mrs. T. B. Nossiter. Dr. and Mrs. Williams, Dr. and Mrs. Frank Hudson, Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Earle, Miss Eileen Davies, Mr. and Mrs. G. G. Stead, and Mr. and Mrs. Stedman. Christmas Cheer. The Male Voice Choir, which gave such a successful entertainment recently, repeated their concert the other evening at the public hospital. This thoughtfulness and generosity were much appreciated by the patients. Harmonic Society. / The Nelson Harmonic Society, at the School of Music, gave a brilliant rendering of the "Messiah." There was a large audience, who showed their appreciation of the soloists' work. Mr. Laurenson, Wellington, who sang at the recent Male Choir concert, was the chief solpist,. and the others were'Mesdames C. J. bu Flou, P. H. Noble, and Mr. F. W. Huggins.
