WELLINGTON GIRLS' COLLEGE
The Wellington Girls' College prizegiving was held in the evening in the Town Hall Concert Chamber. There was also a very large gathering at this function. The stage was bedecked with baskets of delphinium, marigolds, and African daisies. In the . official party were the Hon. P. Fraser (Minister .of Education) and Mrs ■ Fraser, Mrs. T. C. A. Hislop (Mayoress), Miss V. M. Greig (principal of the college), Miss Mary McLean-, G.B.E. (former principal of the college), Miss N. Isaac- (principal of Wellington East Girls' College), Miss A M. Batham (former principal of Wellington East Girls'• College), Mr. L Mackenzie (chairman of the Board of Governors), Mr. Caradus (representing the Education ■ Department), Mrs. Urquhart (president of the Old Girls' Association), and Miss D. Johnstone (first assistant at the college), and other members of the staff. The occasion was of special significance, as it was the last public apnearance as principal of the college to be made by Miss Greig. She was presented with a lovely bouquet, and Mrs Fraser, Mrs. Hislop, and Miss McLean also received gifts of flowers. • Appreciation of Miss Greig's services to the school and deep regret at her retirement were -expressed by Mr. Mackenzie, Mr. Fraser, and Mr. Caradus, and when she rose .to present her report she was received, with acclamatloThe winners of the numerous prizes and sports trophies were congratulated' by Mr Mackenzie; ■ the presentafon* being made by Mrs, Fraser.
