Mrs. C. E.-Richardson, Wellington, accompanied by her husband, returned from a trip to England and the Continent by the Rangitata on Wednesday.

'. Mrs. E. Salmond, Wellington, who arrived in Auckland on Wednesday by the Rangitata from England, accompanied by her husband, and her daughter, Miss Margaret Salmond, has returned to Wellington.
Miss L. E. Clifford, who Has recently returned from a visit' to England, left last evening for Nelson with her sister, Miss Maude Clifford. Later she will stay with another sister, Mrs. Hayter, of D'Urville Island.
Miss Rosemary Rees, who spent a long holiday in New Zealand and in Australia gathering fresh material for further books that she plans to write, left Sydney last week by the Moldavia on her return to England.
Miss Joy McNeil, The Terrace, will leave tomorrow to spend a fortnight in Napier.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Carter, Wellington, returned from a visit to Honolulu yesterday.
Miss May Horneman, Masterton, will leave Wellington on December 3 for England, having obtained a position for a year in a special; school: in Nottingham. Miss-Horneman will: spend the weekend With'her cousin, Mrs. H. Shepherd, of "Coleridge," Colyton.
Miss D. M. Arthur, lady'principal of the Napier Girls' High School, has returned to Hawke's . Bay after an extended trip abroad.
Miss Nancy McGowan, formerly of the staff of the New Plymouth public hospital, arrived in Wellington during the week.
Madame Saldalgne, tutor'in French at the University of Otago, has been granted leave, of absence to enable her to visit Belgium. Madame Bellugue was appointed temporarily to the position. •
Miss M. Newell, Hamilton, is visiting Wellington, and is staying at the Empire Hotel.
Mesdames I. Hamilton (Auckland), W. G. and W. R.'Stead (Hastings), J. S. Langford (Hokitika), G. T. Matheson (Invercargill), Misses Montgomery (Christchurch), and E. Lewis (Auckland) are staying at the Midland Hotel.
Guests at the Royal Oak Hotel include Mrs, L. Wilson ' (Christchurch) and Mrs. P.. Graham (Wanganui).
Mrs. R. J. Jackson (Wanganui) and Mrs. B. Mummery (Australia)' arf> among the • guests' "at the Hotel St. George.
