Barrow and Wagon Fair.

Mrs. Peter Fraser will open a "barrow and wagon" fair at the Rongotai Boys' College at 2.30 p.m. on Saturday. Arranged by the Miramar committee under the convenership of Mrs. Wray, it promises to be a successful function. The stalls will be well-stocked, and there will be much of value for prospective Christmas shoppers to buy. "Gift Tea" Tomorrow. A "Gift Tea" in aid of the Leper Nursing Sisters' Rest Home will be held tomorrow from 2 till 5 p.m. at 48 Aurora Terrace. Dv Flou's Orchestra will play selections during,the. afternoon. A bright and unusual 'entertainment will be given by the Scouts and Cub Mistresses in one of their camp fire "sing songs" in an ideal setting of native bush and rockeries surrounding the home. Afternoon tea will be served by the ladies of Newtown and Brooklyn. Christmas presents will be obtainable at the novelty stall.; A cordial invitation is extended to all interested in the great work of these Sisters to be present. Motor-cars will be in attendance to convey visitors lip the hill. . ' Final E.S.U. Bridge Party. Lovely mauve and pink rhododendrons decorated the English-speaking Union's large clubroom yesterday afternoon, when the last of the briflge parties for the season was held. Mrs.: Sidney Vine, who was hostess, was wearing a navy blue ensemble, stonemarten furs, and a navy blue and white !hat. Mrs. Charlsworth and her committee served the afternoon tea. The wives of the clergy in Wellington met for morning tea at Kirkcaldie and Stain's to say farewell to Mrs. Kendrick on the day of her departure to Auckland en route to England, states the "Church Chronical." Mrs. Sprfftt, on behalf of those present, wished the guest of honour a very happy time in England; and referred to Mrs. Kendric^'s cheerfulness, and to her happy smile on all occasions. She hoped that the gift in paua shell would remind her of her New Zealand friends. Mrs. Holland also spoke, and her wish was that people would be as kind to Mrs. Kendrick in England as people had been to her and. the. Bishop in New Zealand. In thanking all for the gift Mrs. Kendrick said how much she appreciated the opportunity of meeting all those present.
