LONG CYCLE RIDE

MELBOURNE, November 10.

Hubert Opperman, the cyclist wh» is making a record-breaking ride from Perth to Sydney, a distance of 2751 miles, rtached Melbourne at 5.30 p.m. today, having covered 2186 miles in 11 days. The record of 18 days 18 hour* is held by Billy Read.

Thousands blocked the city streets on Opperman's arrival as he rode,to the steps of Parliament Buildings where he was welcomed by the Premier.

After staying two hours; Opperman left on the last lap towards Sydney. ■
