OBITUARY
MR. A. B. MCCREADY
The death occurred at Christchurch yesterday of Mr. Alexander, B. McCready, a ' well-known Wellington journalist, at the age of 65 years.
Until recently Mr. McCready was a member of the "Dominion" literary staff, and following his retirement on account of ill health he visited his daughter, Mrs. E. Papps ; of Woolston, Christchurch, where his death occurred. Mr. McCready joined the "New Zealand Times" in about 1908 as a compositor. .In,the following year he was appointed to the reading staff, and after a period in the sub-editorial department he was appointed chief reader, a position he held, until 'the journal was incorporated 'with the "Dominion." Mr. ,McCready then joined the "New Zealand Herald" reading staff, but. in 1929 he returned to Wellington as second reader for the Dominion. For some time.he was a member of the Wellington Journalists'Union. While he. was with the "New Zealand Times" Mr. McCready conducted a weekly column on brass band affairs under the. nom-de-plume of "Magenta." :'
