DOWAGER LADY SWAYTHLING

PRAISE FOR NEW ZEALAND

Adhering to her intention, expressed when she was last in New Zealand in 1934, of returning to New Zealand for another holiday, the Dowager Lady Swaythling arrived at . Auckland by the Aorangi on Sunday evening, states the "New Zealand Herald." She said when interviewed that on this present visit, which was to be a brief one, she intended concentrating on the few parts of the Dominion she had not yet seen.

A woman of many interests, Lady Swaythling is a vice-president of the English-speaking Union, an officer of the Women's Electrical Association, and a member of the committee of the Wine "and Food Society in London.

Lady Swaythling said that when in New Zealand before she was very impressed with the hotels. In some respects they were better than most of the country hotels in England and were certainly much cleaner. As a member of the Wine and Food Society,, which had been formed in an endeavour to improve the standard of English country hotels, she took particular interest in the hotels in which she stayed. She reported quite favourably in respect to those in New Zealand.

Lady Swaythling, who is the widow of the second Baron, who died in 1927, and daughter of the late Colonel Albert E. Goldsmid, is at present staying at Hotel Cargen. At the end of a fortnight she will leave for Wellington, where she will be the guest for a few days of the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, and Viscountess .Galway at Government House. She will later leave for Australia and will return to England via Java.
