SOCIAL AND DANCE
WELLINGTON AIR LEAGUE
There was a large gathering of young people at the-Wellington Air League's social evening held in their clubrooms on Saturday night. * The Wellington Air League consists of an enthusiastic band of air-minded people who are ' helping to advance future aviation in New Zealand. During the year they have not confined themselves only to the study of aeronautics, but have also tried their hands at interior decorating. The walls of the clubrooms have been painted croam, arid the ladies' social committee supplied fresh green curtains, and hangings, and, to give a realistic touch, aeroplane propellors. Numerous aeronautical photographs on the walls add to the good effect. The hostess for the evening was Miss Majorie Cooke, and Mr. Harvey Cooke was M.C. Among several novelties was an exhibition of clever card tricks by Mr. Forest. Winners of competitions were Miss L. Campbell, Miss A. Dinnie, Mr. L. F. Jemmett, and Mr. J. O'Sullivan. Among those present were Mesdames E. O'Donnell, E. Atkinson, D. Lightfoot, W. Butler, and N. Swinburn, Misses M. Cooke, J. Tomkies, B. Marshall, M. Pownall, A. Gillies, M. Lightfoot, M. Ryan, A. Dinnie, L. Campbell, R. Ryan, R. Lightfoot, H. Tanner, and Messrs. E. Sharp, C. Pownall, R. Steven, K. Larney, Ryan, H. Greer, R. Lightfoot, J. O'Sullivan, Baker, R. Cox. T. Fobte, P. Beaumont, H. Cooke, and L.-F. Jemrhett. A successful evening. concluded with a delicious home-made supper served by the social committee. The party to be given at the National Club this week is being anticipated with, much pleasure. The National members of Parliament will be the special guests of honour, and, as there is a little uncertainty as to the style of dress for the, party, as the members must, of course, come along from the House, it is stated that informal dress will be the "order of the evening" it being understood that peopli may please themselves in the matter. Many pleasant preparations are being made for the, occasion which .should be a very interesting one, as many members of the party have not yet had the opportunity of meeting the representatives' in Parliament.
