NORTHERNERS' WINNINGS

(By "Binocular.") During the four days of racing at the CJO. Spring Meeting at Riccarton. the sum of £1840 was won by Trent-ham-trained horses, while ,an aggregate of £1195 went to Awapum horses. Thus the two principal training centres in the Wellington Province gathered in £3035, which was forthcoming from six firsts, ten seconds, and thMr R^J 5' Murphy headed the' winning list, where the Trentham contingent were concerned, with an aggregate of £1385, Peerless having furnished £695 asa result of her successes in the Welcome Stakes and the Pioneer, Handicap, and her second in the Spring Nursery The Wellington owner s bette" known performer, that wonderful mare Cuddle, registered a magnificent performance when she won the Can terbury Cup on the third day and she followed it up with a second to -Argentic in. the Metropolitan Handicap on Saturday. Those two placmgs netted for her owner the sum of £690. just £5 less than Peerless had contnbUWhere the Awapuni contingent were concerned, the success.of Catalogue in the Jockey Club Handicap enabled his owner Mr E.L.
