WAGES AND HOLIDAYS

A partial settlement was reached In the dispute between the Wellington drug, chemical, condiment, and sauce factory employees and the employers in the Wellington industrial district. The dispute was heard before Mr. M. J. Reardon, Conciliation Commissioner, and the hearing terminated yesterday afternoon.

The employers accepted the workers' offer as regards basic wages for males and females without previous experience, and agreed on the adult rates after one year. Other wage rates caused a deadlock. The employers also objected.to the request for either Anniversary Day or an annual picnic day as a holiday. The ratio of youths to senior workers was also not agreed to.
