contest at Christmas.' Willie Win, who ran such a fine race in the Melbourne Cup, has been entered for the Auckland Cup. Knight of Australia and Kiltowyn are not engaged at Te.Rapa, but they are to compete'in the handicap events at Takapuna. The former is working well, and after his surprise win'in the handicap event on the second day at Ellerslie last month he will be in demand. He is also entered for the Auckland Cup. Kiltowyn has enjoyed a run of successes at Takapuna meetings which have been held at headquarters, and his recent second to Jonathan at Avondalei indicates that he may again play his I part well this month.. Many will be on the look out lor | Kelly when he is next produced, for I this gelding seems to be coming back, to his best again. He may make his next appearance at Takapuna, and Ure'n, contest the middle-distance handicaps at the Auckland Summer Meeting. When he was produced at the Auckland Spring Dark Shadow looked a picture, and although.he did not finish closer than third in the mile on the second day, his efforts were good enough to point to his. being an early winner. Twelve months ago he won the Waikato Cup, and- two days later acted as runner-up to Royal Appellant over a mile, prior to winning the Waipa Cup three weeks later. However, it would seem as though he is to be kept to shorter, races,.for he is not in the , Waikato Cup, but figures in the open sprint the first day and the mile on the second day. Such a free goer should stand a chance over the shorter, journey ort this fine big course. , : • ■ ■ The promising Christopher Robin, youngster/ Sir Robin, who is ■ trained at Takanini, has not yet raced, but he may make his first appearance at Te Rapa. This solid colt "impressedwhen paraded at the Pakuranga Hunt Meeting ten weeks ago, and as he has not been hurried he ought-to be all the better for it. Another interesting two-year-Old carded for this, fixture is Jed Prior,1 who' finished a moderate fourth in the Avondale Stakes, but as this was the Surveyor filly's [first race she should be susceptible to improvement. Bright Wings;; a nice chestnut filly by Vaals and who resembles her dam, White Wings; is also likely to be more thatt useful- when she, gams experience. , Her only outing to date was on the second day at Ellershe when she was not disgraced. The dam was more than useful in' her day and was a sister to that good horse Agrion. both being by Lirnond from the Absurd , mare I Waterwings.
