A REMARKABLE RECORD

The Hawke/s Bay hurdle horseman A. E. Lord in his last four visits to the Poverty Bay district has accomplished a feat of riding probably never before accomplished by a horseman in the Dominion, that of piloting the winners of eight hurdle races in succession. Twelve months ago Lord went to the Spring Meeting of the Poverty Bay Turf Club to pilot Sybilsong to victory in the two hurdle races.- Then, at the Summer Meeting, Jazz King was successful in the two jumping races, with Lord in the saddle. At the Winter Meeting Lord again won the two hurdle racesj .this time on Begorrah. And last weekend he brought Mahala home first past the post on both days. For six years Lord gave up race riding, but since his return he has had a marked run of successes. He is a keen harrier and has won the Hawke's Bay championship, as well as representing his district at the New Zealand championships.
