OBITUARY

MR. PHILIP ISAACS

The death occurred at Auckland on Thursday morning of Mr. Philip Isaacs, formerly of Wellington, and "at one time a partner in the firm of D. Boajamin and Co., of Dunedin and othar centres. The late Mr. Isaacs, who was born in London, was one of five brothers' who came to Dunedm in ths seventies. Two of them began business as general merchants under the name of Messrs. P. and J. Isaacs. Latv Mr. D. E. Theomin joined-them, when Uie firm of D. Benjamin and Co. came into existence, and m a few years it became one of the leading firms of Us kind in the colony. The late Mr. Isaacs came to Wellington as resident partner, and was living in the city about twenty-five years ago, when the company went into voluntary liquidation Mr. Isaacs then continued in business under the name of P. Isaacs and Co., with an office in J. Myers and Co.'s building in Hunter Street. Later he gave up. the business and went to reside at Auckland, where his son, Mr. Ronald Isaacs, lives. Mr. Ronald Isaacs is 'he only surviving mamber of the family, Mrs. Isaacs having died some years ago. Mr. M.'M. Heinemann, Wellington, is a nephew, and Sir Walter Stringer, Auckland, and Mr. Phineas Levi, Wellington, are brothers-in-law. Mr. Isaacs's body is beim,' brought to Wellington for interment. The funeral is to leave Morris's mortuary chapel for the, Jewish cemetery at Karori at 2.30 p.m. on Sunday.
