WAIPAWA RACES

TOMORROW'S FORM HORSES

The Waipawa County Racing Club's Spring Meeting, to be held on the Hastings trade tomorrow, finds useful fields engaged in the majority of the events. The weather recently has been fine, so the track should be in good order. The betting will be under the singlepool system. Unfortunately, the Waipawa County Handicap attracted only seven acceptors, and the majority are in the hack category. Pladie, who shares the role of topweight with Soho, displayed fair form in highweight company at Masterton, running third to Shy and Hazoor on the opening day, but he failed to repeat the effort on the second day, being well back throughout the running. Soho, after his success in the Duke of Gloucester !Cup on the Hastings course in October, had friends in his Wellington Handicap engagement, but he was badly left at the start. The promoted hack Royal Minstrel won two races at the Wellington Meeting, and c:i that form should enter into the discussions tomorrow. Maine has not shown any form as yet this season, but the Arausio mare is a useful sort when right. The Homewood Handicap, the open sprint, finds half a do*n. candidates down to contest the race, Pakanui being topweight with 9.0. Bun Fights wins are few and far between; and Sir Nigel, who is next in the weights, has been rather disappointing, but he has not raced since the Grand National Meeting at Riccarton and may come up fresh and well. Slippery taw a glimpse of his old form at Bulls last Saturday, when he ran a good fourth in fairly strong company. The following horses may be fancied for their engagements:— Hollycombe Hurdles.— Top Hat. Otane Flying Handicap.—Son and Heir, Fossicker, Felicitation..
