SUNEE AND THE BIGOT FIT

The weather was fine but cold when training work started at Kiccarton this morning, and even after the sun broke through there was a strong wind. A few horses sprinted on the outside of the course proper, and others on the plough, which was fast, but most horses were given only useful pace work on the plough. Lustral ran six furlongs in lmin 16 l-ssec, Sigurd following a little later in lmin 17sec. GOOD SPRINTS. Laughing Lass was slightly in front of Oratory all through a five-furlong spin in lmin lsec. Paper Slipper, assisted by Haughty Winner over the last three; registered similar time. These were two smart gallops. Friesland led Lowehberg easily over three furlongs in 39sec, Lickem doing 38sec. Owls Gleam and Screamer went well to register lmin 1 4-ssec for five furlongs, and Pelmet and Rabble sprinted half a mile in 49 3-ssec. After breakfast Stolen March and Made Money ran half a mile in 49 3-ssec. Lord Nuffield and Daring Deed did five furlongs in lmin 2 3-ssec, Combat following with six furlongs easily in lmin 19 3-ssec. , Tauramai strode along freely in a working gallop over seven furlongs on the course proper. Sunee went with great dash to register 48 3-ssec for half a mile. The Bigot was not extended to run six furlongs in. lmin .18 2-ssec. Protector ran three furlongs up the back in 37 2-ssec. Trebleack and Milford took lmin ssec for five furlongs, time that Siegmund and Windward equalled. Fog Peak ran half a mile in 'SO 3-ssec, and finished well. Ortyx dashed over half a mile in 48 l-ssec, a brilliant effort. HUNTING CAT INJURED. Hunting Cat has not been on the track since he came to Riccarton a few days ago, having had his legs cut through getting them over a rail on the steamer. He is unlikely to start in the New Zealand Cup, but it is hoped that he will be able to race before the end of the meeting. Emissary was scratched. for the Stewards' Handicap at i 0.40 a.m. Lady Chat was scratched for the Spring Plate at 2.40 p.m. yesterday: ' .■
