CLEANLINESS IN ITALY
On his way to England, Mr. F. M. Martin, of Wellington, who returned by the Tamaroa today, disembarked at Naples and went overland through Italy, and on this trip, he said, he was rather impressed by the absence of any signs of poverty in Italy. What struck him very much—it was some years since his previous visit—was the extreme cleanliness of the cities. At one time, he said, they used to be rather a by-word for dirtiness, but on his latest visit he did not see even a piece of paper in the streets. That was something that Mussolini had accomplished, anyway, he added. N
