OPENING AT ADDINGTON Mr. R. O. Duncan, managing direo* tor of Willis, Barrett, and Duncan, Ltd., of London, accompanied by Mr. H. Drummond Black, the chairman of directors of Bell Punch Co., Ltd., ox London, will arrive by the Awatea on Monday, October 25. Messrs. Duncan and Black are visiting New Zealand in connection with the opening of the new Bell Punch automatic all-electric totalisator recently installed at Addington for tha New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club. # . .. This Bell Punch totalisator is the first of its kind to be installed m the Dominion. Its introduction to New Zealand and its operation next mpntll at the Metropolitan Club's Cup Meeting wil be watched with considerable interest by those concerned m total") isator betting by, electric methods. The principle of the Bell Punch eleot trie totalisator equipment is quite ne\V to racing clubs at this end of the world, being devoid of mechanical parts as much as possible, and relying almost entirely on the principle or electrical pulsations synonymous ta that of automatic telephony. Mr. R. O. Duncan was for many years closely connected with racing: and trotting in the Dominion, acting is judge for most of the clubs m the South Island some twenty years ago, and was also known as an extensive breeder of light-harness horses.
