CATALOGUE WELL
FINAL AWAPUNi TRIALS - (Special to the "Evening Post.") PALMERSTON N., This Day. Awapuni stables. are particularly well represented at the Wellington Meeting and it wilL be surprising if some of the horses do not more than pay the expenses of the trip. Most of the trainers interested left for Trentham during the weekend, with the result that yesterday's programme was a light one. Among the horses sent along against the watch were Catalogue, The Crooner, Bluffer, and Screen Lord, and all of them worked pleasingly. Catalogue was galloped six furlongs on the grass with the flags out in the middle of the track. He moved smoothly throughout and he completed the journey in lmin 18sec. He is in good fettle. Bluffer was not loafing in cutting out six furlongs on the plough in Imm 18 The Crooner and Old Surrey went, on the course proper. They took Msec for the first furlong and 39sec for the first three furlongs, The Crooner being in front when they turned for home. In the run down the straight Old Surrey came at him and was a shade in. front at the post, the time for the full distance being lmin 16Jsec. It was a good effort and both went well. Sudan and Screen Lord sprinted three furlongs in 37Jsec, and they were together at the finish, with Sudan jog« ging along very comfortably. Tail Light had a weight advantage and too much speed for Glynne Park: over six furlongs on the course proper in lmin 23 3-ssec, the last three furlongs in 43 3-ssec. , Blue Steel and Tangled were worked over a mile on the plough, taking lmin 25sec for the last six furlongs. Blue Steel proved too fast for Tangled, but the latter finished very solidly. Both, are engaged at the Waikato Hunt Meeting. ■ ' • , 1
