INDEPENDENT SERVICES The separation of the commercial side of broadcasting from the National Broadcasting Service is provided for in the Broadcasting Amendment Bill, which was introduced in the House of Representatives this afternoon. The j Director of Broadcasting (Professor J. Shelley) will retain control of the National Broadcasting Service, and the | commercial service will be in charge of the Controller of Commercial Broadcasting (the Hev. C. G. Scrimgeour), whose, period of appointment will be three years, dating from the time of his appointment towards the end of last year.
