CHARGE OF ASSAULT
AFFRAY ON STEAMER
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) , AUCKLAND, This Day. As a result of the affray on the steamer Port Brisbane on Saturday night, James Gibbons, ship's fireman, appeared in the Police Court today charged that, with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, he assaulted William McLeod, thereby causing him actual bodily harm. In obtaining a remand until tomorrow, the police said the ship was to sail on Wednesday, and by tomorrow they would know better the condition of McLeod, who was In hospital.
For his fourth statutory offence of drunkenness, Stanley Terris, plumber and labourer, aged 36, was sentenced to three weeks' imprisonment by Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., in the Magistrate's Court today. A second offender for drunkenness was fined 10s, in default 48 hours' imprisonment, by Mr. W. H. Coy, J.P., in the Mount Cook Police Court today.
